Implant reconstruction

Mr Khan will review your surgical and oncological history, assess your chest wall, skin and symmetry, and explain the full range of reconstructive options. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss implant types, shapes, sizes and support materials such as ADM or mesh.

You’ll receive clear guidance on preparing for your procedure — including managing medications, planning recovery time, and coordinating with your breast cancer team to ensure there is no disruption to your other cancer treatments.

Your operation takes place in one of London’s leading private hospitals. If performed immediately after mastectomy, Mr Khanl works seamlessly with your breast surgeon to reconstruct the breast within the same operation.

Depending on your anatomy and treatment plan, the implant/tissue expander is placed either above (prepectoral) or beneath (dual-plane) the chest muscle. Sometimes, a biological mesh is used to enhance the coverage over your implant for soft, natural definition. Symmetry adjustments or contralateral balancing procedures may be performed at the same time.

You’ll be monitored in a comfortable recovery area before returning home or staying overnight. You’ll receive personalised aftercare instructions and have direct access to our team for any concerns. You’ll wear a supportive bra for several weeks to protect your results and help reduce swelling. Most patients resume light activity after 2–3 weeks and normal routines by 4–6 weeks.
