Frequently asked questions

Please read our FAQs however if you have further questions or concerns please feel free to contact our surgery team at pa@aadilakhan.com or call our reception on +44 20 7118 1525.

Mr Khan always encourages patients to bring a list of questions with them to consultations so he can put their minds at ease. Here is a curated list of some of the more common questions he gets asked during consultations:

Pre-surgery and Consultation

  • Your consultation with Mr Khan is a detailed, one-to-one discussion where you can openly share your goals, questions and concerns. He’ll review your medical history, assess your anatomy and explain suitable options. All consultations are conducted personally by Mr Khan and carry a standard consultation fee, which is credited toward surgery if you decide to proceed.

  • Every procedure is tailored to your body, proportions and lifestyle. During your consultation, Mr Khan will guide you through implant shapes, sizes and techniques — including options for lifts or hybrid (fat-enhanced) reconstructions — helping you make an informed choice that feels balanced and natural.

  • You’ll receive individualised guidance to prepare safely. This may include adjusting medications, maintaining a healthy weight, and arranging time off for recovery. Our team will ensure you feel confident and fully informed at every step.

  • Yes. Modern implants are rigorously regulated, with extensive safety data and track records. Mr Khan uses only CE-marked, FDA-approved implants from trusted manufacturers with proven longevity and clinical transparency. Implant choice is always discussed in full during consultation.

Surgery

  • All procedures are performed personally by Mr Khan, who has extensive expertise in both reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery, including complex revision and microsurgical work.

  • Surprisingly, significant pain is not a feature of most breast and body procedures that are performed. This is because, in surgery, we use a lot of local anaesthetic to make sure that you are pain-free as soon as you wake up. A well fitting bra, or abdominal binder, and tablet painkillers are usually sufficient to keep pain at bay.

  • Most breast implant procedures are performed under general anaesthesia. Some patients choose toreturn home the same day particularly if they live in central London. However, if you are coming from further afield or would just like some peace and quiet while you recover we would recommend an overnight stay!

  • All surgeries carry the risk of complications and sometimes complications require another trip to the operating theatre, additional clinic visits, medications or scans. All risks are discussed in detail before surgery, and every precaution is taken to ensure your safety and minimise complications.

Recovery

  • You may experience mild swelling or tightness, which gradually settles over the first week. Pain is typically well-controlled with oral medication. You’ll wear a supportive bra and have direct contact with our aftercare team for reassurance and guidance.

  • Most patients return to light activity within a week and to normal routines, including exercise, within four to six weeks. Full healing and scar maturation continue over the following months.

  • You’ll notice an immediate change, but results refine as swelling settles and tissues adjust — typically by three to six months post-surgery.

  • Implants are long-lasting medical devices, but they are not considered lifetime products. Most remain stable for 10–15 years or longer. Regular review and imaging (such as ultrasound or MRI) are recommended over time.

  • You’ll receive structured follow-up appointments and 24-hour access to our team in the early recovery period. Long-term reviews are also available to monitor your implants and ensure your results remain optimal.

  • Flying is OK after 2-3 weeks for short haul and 4-6 weeks for long-haul depending on the type of procedure that is being performed.
